s/o Richard Ralston & Rachael Prevo, h/o Mary Spivey.

Served with Company G, Illinois Infantry during the Civil War.

Enoch Ralston is dead at the age of 95. He passed away this (Friday) morning at 6 o'clock.

Prevo Ralston of West Union, Clark County, Ill., was at the bedside of his brother when the end came.

Richard M. and Rachel R. Ralston were the parents of eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Six sons grew to manhood. Five were soldiers in the Grand Army of the Republic.

Enoch was the first born and Prevo, the youngest child, were all of the family living at the ninety-fifth birthday of the elder son, celebrated on the 8th of last November.

The subject of this sketch was born on White River, White County, Ind. When a child he went with his parents to Clark County, Ill., where he grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Mary Spivey. Their union was blessed with seven children. Of these three died when small. Emily, Joseph, Mary and Harvey grew to maturity and are still living.

Since 1865 Kankakee county has been his home and Momence his last residence.

In 1862 he enlisted in the federal army and served his term, receiving an honorable discharge. Enlisting again he served until the close of the war and was again honorably discharged.

At the age of fourteen he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was a faithful member for 81 years. At the last quarterly meeting he was present and joyfully partook of the holy sacrament of the Lord's supper.

Mr. Ralston was a mason by trade and in the days of his active work labored faithfully at his occupation.

For more than a week he has been consciously approaching his end. Prayer and song has marked the days that have brought him to his coronation.

The close of life has been a welcome event. The joys of a better world have tempered the sorrowful departure from the loved ones of earth.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss two daughters, Mrs. Emily Buckner and Mrs. Mary J. Park, and one son, Harvey Ralston. All reside in Momence. Also the brother, Prevo Ralston of West Union, Ill.

Mr. Ralston retained in a remarkable degree his interest in the affairs of the world. In remarks made at his last birthday celebration he spoke at length about his past life. he also spoke of the present way, closing his remarks by saying that when this war was over there would be but one government and one church.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Methodist Church, the Rev. D.F. Wilson officiating.
