LAKE PLEASANT, N.Y. —
Arvin Channing Aird entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. Arvin was born December 26, 1944, to the late Alton and Charlotte Aird. Arvin graduated from Wells Central School in 1963, and attended SUNY Plattsburgh.

In 1965 he entered the U.S. Army, serving 2 terms of duty in Vietnam as an MP with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. Arvin was a member of the Lake Pleasant Vol. Fire Dept. for 50 years, a member and past Commander of VFW Post # 7228, and he served as a member of the Town of Lake Pleasant Zoning Board of Appeals. He was employed at Vogel Excavation as a heavy equipment operator.

Arvin loved his home in the Adirondacks on Oxbow Lake. He and his wife, Jan, owned and operated Abanake Camps and Diner. Arvin was the third generation on Oxbow Lake with this business that his grandfather started in 1922. He also took great pleasure in operating the sugar bush that he and his father built in 1959.

Arvin married Janice Daley Borst, who survives, on July 4, 1987. He is survived by his step-son, Michael Borst (Shannon); step-daughter, Maureen Jenison (Travis); seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Florence Braunius (Donald); brother, Alton Bruce (Kathleen);
and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held Friday, June 29, at the Lake Pleasant United Methodist Church, Route 8, Lake Pleasant. Visiting will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Airdville Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Service, 401 Bridge Street, Northville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Ohio Alliance Church, 107 Ash Creek Road, Ohio, NY 13324, or the Lake Pleasant Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 545, Lake Pleasant, NY 12108.
