James "Jim" Patrick O'Donahue
Sr., 57, a 38-year resident of Kennewick,
died Thursday, Oct. 14,
1999, at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy
Hospice House in Kennewick.
He was born Jan. 20,1942, in
Ironwood, one of six children of
Emmett and Genevieve (King)
"O'Donahue. He was a graduate
of Luther L. Wright High School.
On Sept. 8, 1961, he married
the former Margaret Elizabeth
Kilbourn in Iron River, Wis. She
survives.
Jim worked for the Kennewick
School District for 25 years as a
custodian.
But it was the love of his family,
his friends and his active volunteerism
that defined him. His
and Margaret's home was always
home for people from all walks of
life.
His participation in his
church, St. Kennewick, was endless;
he served as a Sunday
School teacher, vestry, Episcopal
Young People volunteer and
member on various church committees.
Of particular pride and
enthusiasm, was his 42-year volunteer
service with the Boy
Scouts. He was honored for his
commitment to Scouting by
being awarded the Silver Beaver
Award in 1980 and St. Georges
Award in 1998.
Jim also served 16 years on
the Kennewick Parks and Recreation
Board, was a Little League
coach and, with his wife, was a
host parent for A.F.S. students.
Survivors include his wife,
Margaret, Kennewick; two sons,
Jamie (April), and Robert
(Gayle); two granddaughters,
Leslie and Robyn; two brothers,
Charles, Tacoma, Wash., and
David; a sister, Sharon (Richard)
Cressey, Ironwood; foster brother,
John Cain, Ironwood, and
many aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim was
preceded in death by a brother,
Jack; and a sister, Mary.
To remember Jim's life with
joy, a service will be held today,
Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., at St.
Paul's Episcopal Church, in Kennewick.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested
that memorials be made
either to St. Paul's Episcopal
Church building fund, 1609 W.
10th Ave., Kennewick WA 99336,
or to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy
Hospice House, Kennewick.
