Mabel Holt Nelson, age 99, our loving Aunt Mame, the Popcorn Lady to everyone who knew her, passed away November 2, 2004 in her almost 100 year old family home in South Jordan due to natural causes of her advancing years. Born September 26, 1905 in South Jordan, Utah to Samuel Elijah Holt and Margaret Geneva Beckstead. She married M. Henry Nelson, June 10, 1931. Henry passed away almost 25 years ago on January 11, 1980. Aunt Mame is believed to have been the oldest living resident born in South Jordan. She was honored as South Jordan Senior Citizen of the Year during Town Days in the summer of 2000. She was a wonderful beautician and cosmetologist serving in the Powder Puff and Makoff beauty salons in Salt Lake for over 40 years. She had a wonderful magnetic personality who was loved by all and who truly loved everyone whose life she touched. Her example of unconditional love and service to her family and friends was most remarkable. She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. Mabel is survived by her brother Frank of South Jordan. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers Dell, Byrum, Allen, Verl, and Vaughn; sisters, Ivy, Orel, Verda, Rosamond and Reola. Funeral services held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 in the River Ridge Temple Chapel, 10200 South 1300 West in South Jordan. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery. Goff Mortuary, funeral directors. Her constant love and "wit" will be greatly missed but her memories will be with us forever.
