Charles Guy Bundy was born on September 5, 1923, in Alexandria to Charles and Juliet (Engstrom) Bundy. He was the eldest of three sons. Chuck graduated from Alexandria, High School in 1941. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1945, as a Technical Sergeant.
Charles was united in marriage to Dorothy "Kitty" Hove on July 6, 1945. After attending St. Thomas College, Chuck entered the insurance field and sold life insurance for over fifty years.
Throughout his life, Chuck was actively involved in the community. He was a member of the Jaycees and one of the hosts of the Christmas radio program "Jingles Bells." In 1956, the Jaycees selected him as outstanding "Man of the Year." Chuck served as Director of the Board of Public Works for three years. He was a member of the Alexandria School Board and helped build the Vocational Technical School. For two years he served as Chairman of the Minnesota State Heart Fund.
Chuck was a member of the Shrine and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He served as Director of the Alexandria Area Chamber of Commerce. In 1975, Chuck was elected as Commander of the American Legion Post 87. He was co-founder of Selective TV. He ran for the State Senate as an Independent. He helped build the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, serving as building chairman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid golfer.
Chuck died on October 8, 2008, at Knute Nelson Home at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Kitty"; four daughters: Constance Bundy, Lynn Bundy, Janet Bundy & husband, Eric Petkoff, Jeri Bundy-Shortum & husband, Steve; two granddaughters: Cassandra Ramalingam & husband, Krishna, Jessica Lindquist; three great grandchildren: Ryan, Lillian, and Dylan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: James & Richard.
The caregivers at Knute Nelson took exceptional care of him during the five years he resided there. His family cannot thank them enough for their kindness and attention.
Charles was a wonderful husband and father. He was a generous, kind and sweet man who delighted in making others happy. He will be dearly missed.
