Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Reynolds
Mrs. Elizabeth Reynolds died Sunday evening, August 10, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. E. Shippey.
Mrs. Reynolds, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Betsey Peas (Pease), was born in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, October 24, 1836. While a young woman, she came to Southern Minnesota and was married to Frank Reynolds at Mankato on November 12, 1857. Mrs. and Mrs. Reynolds lived in that vicinity until 1868, being in the heart of the Indian trouble during the outbreak of 1862. On leaving southern Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds came to Douglas county, taking a homestead in Hudson township, on which they lived for four years. They came to Alexandria in 1872 and this city was their home until their deaths, Mr. Reynolds dying in September 27, 1892.
Mrs. Reynolds leaves three daughters and one son, O. J. Reynolds, of this city. The daughters are Mrs. Marie Burgan, living at Rock Springs, Montana; Mrs. E. A. Shippey, of this city, and Mrs. Ida Crosier, of Tacoma, Washington.
The funeral was held from the Shippey home Tuesday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock, Rev. W. W. Ruble officiating. The interment was in Kinkead Cemetery. The pallbearers were John Sheldon, Wm. Carroll, L. Evens and W. R. Nelson.
