Born in Providence, a son of the late Richard J. and Mary (O'Reilly) Hartnett, Sr. he has resided in Deep River, CT for the past 5 years, formerly residing in NJ and in Warwick. Mr. Hartnett was employed as a corporate auditor. He had worked at GMAC for 35 years, retiring as director of internal auditing in 1988. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII and Korean War. He had volunteered his time with the Diocese of Norwich Prison Ministry teaching RCIA at the Niantic Men's Prison and taught reading at Dorcas Place in Providence to adult men. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
