Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Mary Clare Ketelaar was born on November 16, 1929, in Davenport, a daughter of Anthony and Florence (Gasseling) Ketelaar. She was a graduate of the former Immaculate Conception Academy in 1947 and then St. Anthony School of Nursing, Rock Island, in 1950. She was united in marriage to Charles A. "Chuck" Lotspeich on November 15, 1952 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2006. They shared 54 years of marriage together.
Ket was a nurse for over 50 years. Being a nurse was more than a career for her; she had a great passion for her work and was very dedicated to her profession. She cared for patients at the Osteopathic Hospital, Davenport Medical Center and Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She retired in 1999.
Ket was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Victory Parish, attending religiously the Saturday evening Mass with her family. She also was a member of Plus 60.
She and Chuck were blessed with a large family, having 10 children, and she cherished being around many of them nearly every day. Ket also never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, and an "occasional" trip to our local gambling boats. Ket was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Chris Lotspeich; Charlie and Tonya Lotspeich; Kathy and Larry Snider; Cyndi Lotspeich; Tom Lotspeich; Peggy Lotspeich; Ann Lotspeich; Beth Lotspeich; Patty Lotspeich; and John and Mary Lotspeich; grandchildren, Sasha Conner; Tiffany Johnson; Kyle and James McMahon; Dustin Johnson; Anthony Lotspeich; Alexis Lotspeich; Cole Lotspeich and Clare Lotspeich; great- grandchildren, Isabel Conner; Noah Braun Johnson, Seth Conner, Elizabeth Syler, Charli Jo and Mikayla Conner; and sisters, Corrine (Charles) Conway and Nancy Ketelaar.
Mary Clare was preceded in death by her husband and parents. May they rest in peace.
