Death of Frederich W. Haake

Friederich Wilhelm Haake of Tobias, Neb., died in a Fairbury hospital after a day's illness, Wednesday, Nov. 32, 1962, just three days before his 87th birthday.
The son of Jobst Heinrich Haake and Anna Marie Stuebe Haake, he was born Nov. 24, 1875 at Roedinghausen, Kreis Herford, Westphalia, Germany. On Nov. 28, 1875 he was baptized in the Christian faith and on March 30, 1890, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church there.
At the age of 17, in 1892, he came to the United States and worked for farmers in the Tobias-Daykin vicinity. About 1895 he became a member of Zion Lutheran church, Tobias, where he was a faithful attender until his death. He served the congregation as elder and as trustee.
On Feb. 10, 1898, he married Louise Niederklein (sic) at Zion Lutheran church with the Pastor Th. Hartman (sic) officiating. To them six children were born, three sons and three daughters.
The couple lived in the Tobias area with the exception of one year at Wilcox, Neb. In 1935, Mr. Haake retired from active farming, but lived in a home on the farm until the death of his wife in 1961. Since that time he had been making his home with the children in the Tobias area.
Preceding him in death were his wife, his eldest daughter, his sister, Mrs. Karl Scheele Sr, one great grandson, Stanley meyer, and in Germany, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Lena, Mrs. Rudolph Meyer of Tobias, and Annette, Mrs. Sid Davies of Norwalk, Calif.; three sons, Adolph H. and William A. of Tobias and Lester of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday afternoon in the Zion Lutheran church at Tobias with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. E.F. Prange officiated. Pallbearers were Roger Haake, Wayne Meyer, Melvin Meyer, Kenneth Haake, Virgil Jochimsen and Hubert Schields.
