Ozette Rainey, age 79, life long Collingsworth County resident and long time teacher, died Wednesday, March 13, 1996 in Wellington.
Mrs. Rainey was born March 28, 1916 in the Lutie Community to Will and Kathryn Boone Bennett. She married Selba Rainey on January 20, 1938 in Wellington. She graduated from Shamrock High School and from West Texas A&M University. She was a retired teacher, having taught school in Samnorwood for 42 years. She was a member of the Texas Teachers Association and the Samnorwood Baptist Church. She moved into Wellington in 1990 from the Samnorwood area.
Survivors include her husband, Selba of the home; a daughter, Darlene Smith of Amarillo and a son, Joel of Wellington; a brother, Herbert Bennett of Fritch; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
