Mr. Atkins was born May 2, 1927, in Boise City to John Austin Atkins Sr. and Nellie Eiland Atkins. He Married Ruth Gabriella Scholes on December 22, 1951 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; four children, John Austin "Jay" Atkins III of Optima, Oklahoma, Danna Beougher of Boise City, Cimarron Atkins of Little Rock, Arkansas and Leslie Fulton of Sitka, Alaska; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a special nephew Larry Collier of Jones, Oklahoma.
The family suggests memorials be to Cimarron Senior Center, Boise City, Oklahoma
