Roy Hulse Burris, son of the late Alex Burris and Emma Beard Burris, was born 23 Sept 1911, in Adair Co., and departed this life on 26 Dec 1981 at the McDowell Wing in the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Ky. He was 70 years, 3 months and 3 days of age. Mr. Burris had served as jailer of Green Co. for 8 years and was also a farmer. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Church. He united in marriage to Katherine Estes Burris on 22 Sept 1932. To this union was born 2 sons and 1 daughter, who preceded her father in death: Hollis Burris, Rt. 1, Greensburg, Ky; Dennis Burris, Greensburg, Ky. and Emma Jean Burris. Mr. Burris is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Delzie Burris, of Greensburg, Ky. He is survived by 3 brothers, 2 half brothers and 3 half sisters: Eunie Burris of Rt. 5, Greensburg, Ky; Rue Burris, Rt. 6, Greensburg, Ky; A.Z. Burris Columbia, Ky; Bill Burris, Lexington, Ky; Rolin Burris, Portland, Ky.; Shirley Smith, Greensburg, Ky; Mary Elizabeth Burris, Munfordsville, Ky; Joyce Dillahay, Tenn. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, where funeral services were conducted at 1:00 pm Mon 28 Dec 1981 with burial in the Liberty Cem. Rev. Grant Davis officiated. Pallbearers were Danny Burris, Bobby Joe Burris, David Burris, Sammy Burris, Mike Burris, Phillip Burris and Jackie Burris. Honorary pallbearers were Boyce Hudson, James Paxton, Joe Atwell, James Robert Shuffett, Jimmie Little, Donnie Hancock, Wayne Compton, Roy Gupton, Barney Shuffett, Henry Kessler and Robert Wells.
