Tom Burgess married Ida May (Cantrall) Burgess in 1912 after her 1st husband David Chancey "Chance" Burgess Sr died. "Tom" and "Chance" were brothers. "Tom" and Ida had one son, Adolph Nelson Burgess.

Parents: Rev. Nelson Burgess born Onondada County NewYork, 2/28/1813. and Rebecca Brisvine, the daughter of Samuel & Nancy Brisvine. b: 6/14/1820. They came to Johnson County, Kansas in 1866.
