Tas Simpson Grammer, Jr., 85, of Ft. Oglethorpe, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at his residence.

Tas was the son of the late Grace Snyder Grammer and Tas S. Grammer, Sr. and was preceded in death by his sisters Gladys Groce, Mildred Anderson and Marjorie Womack.

He was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II in the 45th Division and served during the Korean Conflict in the 822nd Tank Battalion. Tas was a salesman with Southland Fabrics for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, June Phillips Grammer; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert T. and Linda Grammer, Nashville, Richard A. and Brenda Grammer, Rossville and Donald F. and Carol Grammer of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Scott Grammer, Adrian Grammer, Lynne G. Mashburn, Libby Grammer, Allison Grammer and Alex Grammer; step-grandchildren, Michael Jeter and Leslie Nation; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at East Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Mr. Grammer will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. The Deacons of East Ridge Baptist will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Burial will follow at Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory.
