Martha Shelby McDermott, 66, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 12, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. Mrs. McDermott was a Brevard County resident for 15 years. She had been a Red Cross volunteer Gray Lady for more than 35 years. She was a member of Port Malabar Country Club in Palm Bay. Survivors include her husband, Austin McDermott of Palm Bay; daughter, Debbie Seymour of Homer, Alaska; sisters, Joy Hairston of Miami and Stacie Portmann of Blakely Island, Wash.; and three grandchildren. No calling hours or local services are scheduled. Brownlie and Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 17 N.
