Services for Mr. Jack M. Witte, 65, of Nebraska City will be held Saturday, Jan 13 at 2 pm at the Gude Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City.
Mr. Witte died Jan 11, 1990 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born Oct 8, 1924 in Nebraska City, the son of Paul and Nellie (Stokes) Witte. He was married to Pat Hawley on Feb 19, 1955, in Clarinda, Iowa.
Mr. Witte was a lifetime native of Nebraska City and he served in the 82nd Airborne Battalion of the U. S. Army in Europe during World War II. During his service he received the European Campaign Medal, the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, the American Campaign Medal and the Efficiency Honor Fidelity award.
He was employed at the American Meter plant for 35 years where he worked as a supervisor. He was also a member of the Masons. He is survived by his wife, Pat, two sons, Buddy Bruns of Nebraska City, and Tim Witte of Los Angeles, Calif; two daughters Mary Donna Lane of Nebraska City, and Marcia Raggio of San Francisco, Calif; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Pearl Stinson of Tecumseh and Pauline Keller of Omaha.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City and complete military services will be conducted by American Legion Post no. 8 of Nebraska City.
The family will receive friends between 7 and 8 pm Friday evening at Gude Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Heart Fund and Nebraska City Rescue Squad.
