Elbert Goodman was a farmer. He bought land around the Grasseylead Community West of Corning, Arkansas in 1902. He and his first wife Daisy built a 2 room house and started their family with their first child being born in 1904.
Daisy died 9 days after the birth of their last child in 1906.

William Elbert later married Lular Thomas and she and he raised a family of 7 children plus the 3 little ones left by Daisy's death. They continued to live in the original house, building on to it as their family grew.

The house still stands today on Hiway 67 West of Corning. It is still owned by the Goodman family and now serves as the home for farm hands.
