He first married Catherine J. EVANS 13 September 1866 and in his pension file a document is found of his divorce from Catherine. King received custody of their children. He married second Rosa Anna WHITAKER on 18 November 1888. Records show that both were buried at Hickory Creek - Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Knox County, TN; tombstones have not been found.
