Mrs. Malvina Bassett Bowen
Malvina Bassett, the deceased, was born in the year 1836 at Arkwright, Chautauqua county, state of New York, and died at Onawa December 8th, 1913, at the home of her son, W.J. Bowen; being 77 years, 1 month and 6 days of age. She was united in marriage with E.J. Bowen in the year 1858 at Laona, N.Y.
She leaves to mourn her loss five children, Mrs. Lettie McAdon of Little Sioux, Milton Bowen of Cherokee, W.J. Bowen of Onawa, Mrs. Hattie Gambs and H.E. Bowen of North Dakota. Also four brothers, Preston Bassett of Springville, N.Y., Milton, I.W., and L.H. Bassett of Little Sioux, Iowa.
Late in life she united with the Christian church. She died in that faith believing that all would be well with her when life ties were severed and she departed hence.
Funeral services were held at the home of W.J. Bowen in Onawa, Tuesday, December 9th, 1913, conducted by Rev. W.E. Blackstock, after which the body was taken to Little Sioux for interment.
