Ruth Hodges, age 88, of Brinkley passed away at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.

A daughter of the late John and Amy Lorene Tamsett Carter, Ruth was born in Banner, Arkansas on Novemeber 9, 1923. She was united in marriage to Clarence Hodges on October 26, 1945 in Desha, Arkansas.

Ruth was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with her children, crossword puzzles, fishing, cooking and being with her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her son, Danny Dewayne Hodges of Alverado, Texas, two daughters, Lorene Hodges of Grand Prarie, Texas, Lavena Hodges Slaughter of Brinkley, 6 grandchildren, Lanette Lanfear, Lisa Hollowell, Stephen Edwards, Merrill Phillips, Stoney Hodges and Matt Hodges and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Amy Carter, husband, Clarence Hodges, brothers, Othienel Carter, Ned Carter, Elmer Carter, Ollie Carter and sisters, Agnes Baker, Eulene Daugherty, Lavada Tatum.

Visitation will be 6-8PM, Friday at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley. Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley.
