Mrs. Levi Stout, 33 year old mother of seven children, passed away at a hospital in this city about nine o'clock last night, death resulting from complication arising after she had given birth to a son, Jan. 4, who died at birth. Mrs. Stout was taken to the hospital about four hours prior to her death, where efforts to save her life were without success. The family resides at 2424 West Sixth street.
Emma Lola Verley was born at Burwell on July 2, 1902, and was 33 years, seven months and four days of age when death called her. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Verley, both of whom preceded her in death about nine and ten years ago. She moved with her family from Burwell to Grand Island when she was about 12 years of age, and has resided in Grand Island since that time. She was educated in the Burwell and the Grand Island schools, and on July 25, 1916, was married to Levi Stout. To them were born eight children, all of whom, with the exception of the babe which passed away at birth a little more than a month ago, survive her.
Surviving are her bereaved husband, five sons, Floyd, 14, Harold, 12, James, 11, Danny, five, Clyde, two, and two daughters, Maxine, 9, and Donna, three. Four brothers, Harry Verley, of St. Paul, Ray Verley, of Collins, Mo., Ralph Verley, of Chapman, and Guy Verley, of Grand Island, and one sister, Mrs. Orville Reynolds, of Grand Island, also survive here. Funeral services will be held from the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home at Koenig and Walnut streets Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. E. C. Ford in charge. Burial will be made in the Grand Island cemetery beside the body of her baby son.
