Adah Ellen Kissinger, the daughter of Mamie Elizabeth "May" Kelley and William A. Kissinger who died in 1895. Adah's mother had two children, Adah and William Marvin Kissinger prior to her marriage on August 5th, 1896 in Clay County, Texas to Henry F. Hodge. That marriage produced additional step siblings for Adah and her brother.

Adah married Claude Wesley Rupe, the son of Jesse Whitman Rupe and Flora Alice Hendricks Rupe. They were married on December 300th, 1909 in Jackson County, Oklahoma.
