Mr. Abel was at one time the proprietor of the Abel Shoe Store in Guttenberg. He was a salesman for the Brown Shoe Company and a salesman for United Life Insurance Company of Bettendorf, Iowa.
He was a state representative from 1951 to 1954 and following that was a lobbyist in Des Moines. He was also secretary of the State Commerace Commission for a number of years and a Master Mason.
He died at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital of acute respiratory arrest and his body was willed to the Anatomical Division of University Hospitals in Iowa City.
His father is Edward Henry Abel, b. 1869 and mother is Matilda Sophia (Greenwaldt) Abel, b. 1868.
