James Baratta, 90, of Bloomfield died yesterday in the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.

A Mass will be offered at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Anthony's Church, Belleville, following the funeral from the Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St., Bloomfield.

Mr. Baratta was head of maintenance for Robert A. Johnston Chocolates and Candies, Hillside, for 25 years before retiring 25 years ago.

He was a four-time gold medal bocci player in the New Jersey Senior Citizens Olympic Games.

Mr. Baratta was a member of the Old Timers Bowling League at Garden State Bowl, Union, where he had won an award in 1993 from the American Bowling Congress.

Born in Newark, he moved to Bloomfield in 1965.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Auriemma; a son, James T.; a sister, Mrs. Carole Lisena; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
