From Lackawanna County Obituary Archives, "The Scranton Times," 1919:

Caroline M. Colvin died at her late residence in Dalton, Aug. 24th 1891 aged 72 years, 2 months, 24 days. Mrs. Colvin was the daughter of George A. Bailey, one of the earliest settlers in Abington Township. The family consisted of nine children, six sons and three daughters; of this large family only two are now living, viz: George S. Bailey, DD, now residing in California in very feeble health, and Aunt Polly Franklin, still living in Abington Township.

The old homestead, the site of which is now occupied by the residence of Jos. P. Dickson, was one of the first houses erected in this neighborhood and the old home of Bailey Hollow which has so effectually passed out of the minds of nearly all the present generation, was derived from the family of which deceased was a member.

Mrs. Colvin was born May 31, 1819; was married to Henry J. Colvin July 30, 1836. She was baptized into the old Baptist Church by Elder John A. Shaw in the year 1839 and has been a consistent member of said church for over fifty years. to her and her devoted husband, Deacon Colvin, are due much that enters into the early history of the Abington Valley Baptist Church.

Mrs. Colvin was the mother of three children viz: Merton A., Frank M., and Jane, wife of Wm. H. Stevens.

During the past year especially during the few months preceding her death, she had been quite a sufferer, but had endured it with Christian fortitude. Her funeral will be attended from the Baptist Church, Wednesday at 2 o'clock 2 P. M.
