Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Friday, December 26, 1952

Herman Loeffelbein, 75, a pioneer resident of Merrick County, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home, 115 East Koenig, Thursday morning. He had finished his breakfast and was sitting in a chair in the living room when stricken. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. O. A. Graebner and the Rev. Walter E. Buss. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Geddes Funeral Home. Burial will be at Grand Island.

Mr. Loeffelbein was born Dec. 6, 1877, in Merrick County near Archer to Frederick and Emilie Loeffelbein. He resided in Merrick until he retired from the farm in 1936 and came to Grand Island to make his home. He and Katherine Frederking were married Aug. 26, 1903, at Zion Lutheran Church at Worms. Mr. Loeffelbein was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Milton Loeffelbein, St. Libory; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Peters, Central City, Mrs. Theodore J. Dankert, Wichita, Kan., and Dolores Mettenbrink, Grand Island; a brother, Karl Loeffelbein, Palmer; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
