Daniel McKenzie was the son of Eli and Anna Matheson. His first marriage was to Martha Monteith about 1870 according to the 1900 Federal Census. His second marriage was to Marcelles Josephine Crane. At his death, he was married to Ida Smith Ledford (her second marriage). They were married on Sep. 13, 1910 in Cleveland County, North Carolina
