L. P. Hermes
L. P. Hermes Was gloriously reunited with the love of his life, Jane, on July 27, 2012. Lambert Paul Jr. was born in El Paso, Texas on December 1, 1925 and moved to Tucson as a child. L.P. attended St. Peter and Paul school, Tucson High and The University of Arizona. He played varsity tennis in high school and retained a great affection for the sport, playing his final set only a few short years ago. L.P. was an Eagle Scout and later served as a Scoutmaster. L.P. pledged as a Sigma Chi while at the U of A. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was in training at the conclusion of WWII. L.P.'s occupations included Manager of Mulcahy Lumber Co. (later Grant Road Lumber), he was a Certified Life Underwriter at New York Life Insurance Company, Tucson branch president of The Bank of Boston and most recently a Certified Financial Planner from which he never retired. L.P. was a member of countless service organizations throughout his life: the 20/30 Club (President), Lions International and Knights of Columbus (Forth Degree) to name just a few. L.P.'s greatest commitment was to his family and to his Savior, Jesus Christ. L.P. married Emma Jane Paton, on November 10, 1945 and was a wonderful father to their six children, Judy Curry (Roy), Tom Hermes (Lucy), Mariann Hermes-Hardy (Wendell), Linda Atkielski (John), Jill Kennedy (Jeff), and John Hermes (Kim). L.P. has fifteen grandchildren: Maura, Ressa, and Nathan Curry, Tom and John Hermes (Maria), Heather and Todd Hardy, Jal Atkielski and Christine Lopez (Derek), Janel Gunia, Jennifer Hermann (John), Joseph Kennedy (Alissa) and Nicola, Jay and Marc Hermes. He has eighteen great-grandchildren, Devin, Kamille, Chloe, Issabelle, Camden, Emma Jane, Holden, Samuel, Oscar, Byrdie, Alden, Christopher, Chase, Victoria, John William, Luke, Tivoli and Gabrielle. L.P.'s profound faith was at the core of his being and defined his relationships with family and friends. L.P. was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Gilbert (Mary) and his sister Eileen Atkinson (Terry). Sister in law, June (Raymond) resides in Ohio and celebrated her 94th birthday this week. A special thanks to the caregivers at Villa Maria for the genuine love shown to "Their L.P." Also thanks to the Hospice nurses for the comfort and care given to L.P. and his family over the past few months. A Visitation for family and friends and a Rosary will be held on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Cyril Catholic Church, 4725 E. Pima St., Tucson, Arizona. A Funeral Mass with a reception to follow will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cyril. Interment will be held at Holy Hope Cemetery.
