Born in Tennessee, C. H. Jones came to Tyler County, Texas in the mid-1850s, where he was proprietor of a general mercantile business.
He volunteered for duty with Company K in March 1862 and was elected 1st Lieutenant.
Following the war he suffered from poor health.
He was listed as a member of Woodville Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 62 in 1876.
Lieutenant Jones died in 1880 at the age of 46 and was buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville, Texas.
