Mrs. Mabel Chamberlaine Burroughs, wife of Charles F. Burroughs, died yesterday at 4:30 a.m. at her home, 512 Pembroke Avenue.
Daughter of the late George Chamberlaine and Mrs. Eliza Calvert Taylor Chamberlaine, she was born in Norfolk and had lived here most of her life. She was a member of Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Burroughs Tyler; one son, Charles F. Burroughs, Jr., five grandchildren and three sisters, Miss Bessy L. Chamberlaine, Miss Mary McGuire Chamberlaine and Miss Eloise Chamberlaine, all of Norfolk.
The body will be taken from the residence to Christ and St. Luke’s Church for funeral services today at noon. The Rt. Rev. William A. Brown, D.D. retired bishop of the Diocese of Southern Virginia, and the Rev. Peyton R. Williams, rector of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family request that flowers be omitted.
