RITTMAN -- Helen Rutherford, 88, of Beach Park, Ill., formerly of Rittman, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Grande Prairie Nursing Home in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. Helen was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Parkersburg, W.Va., was raised in Vienna, W.Va., and moved to Illinois 17 years ago from Rittman. She worked for a number of years at Great Skate Roller Rink in Kenosha, Wis. While in Rittman she was employed at Imperial Plastics for 16 years until retiring in 1987, and also worked at the former Sleepy Owl Restaurant in Rittman. Helen was a lifetime member of Women of the Moose and was a member of the Pythian Sisters of Medina. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul F. Hogsett; her second husband, Clyde Rutherford; a daughter, Virginia Fay Deem; two grandchildren, Susan Hogsett and Scott Deem; two sons-in-law, Eugene Bibbee and Ab Deem; and siblings, Virginia Poling, Katie Fry, James Dye, Ida Dye and an infant sister. Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman, with the Rev. Jerry Hackworth officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
