Jeffery Alan Hays, age 45, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. A celebration of his life will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel, with Rev. John Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Hays was born November 8, 1966 in St. Joe, MI. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Sliter, Jr. and his maternal grandparents, Weldon and Frances Oliver. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran of Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. Other than his parents, Bill Hays, Sr., Georgia, Dorothy Oliver Hays, Hopkinsville, and biological father, Fred Sliter of Michigan, he is survived by his wife, Susan Lindstrom Hays, Charlotte; sons, David Hays, Hopkinsville, Steven Hays, Clarksville; daughters, Erika Esser, Hopkinsville, Andrea Esser, Charlotte, Breanna Esser, Charlotte; brother, William Hays, Georgia; sister, Sherry Dixon, Eddyville; half siblings, Joseph Sliter, Tisha Sliter, Spring Sliter, all of Michigan; paternal grandmother, Angie Contrell, Colorado; five grandchildren, Ayden Hays, Lilyah Hays, Derrick Hanson, Trinity McCracken and Malika Esser; uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chapman, Jerry Oliver, Jim Hays and Neil Hays; and aunts, Carol Riggs and Paula Perry.
