Deceased was united in marriage to John S. Smith August 16th, 1858. She remained a member of the United Brethren Church until she, with her husband, united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in December 1887. About two years ago she became connected with the Latter Day Saints Church, at Independence, Missouri.
Mrs. Smith died at the home of her son, Geo. Smith, in this city, at midnight on Saturday, January 16th, 1912, aged seventy-two years, seven months and thirteen days.
As the end came near, and realizing her work on earth was finished, and her Saviour was calling her home, her last words to her children were not to weep for her, for she was ready and wanted to go. She said she would not suffer over there.
She leaves to mourn her loss seven children - two sons and five daughters. The children are:
Mrs. Nettie Burgin, Groom, Texas;
B. F. Smith, Randolph, Nebraska;
Mrs. Neally Clark, (text unreadable), Nebraska;
Mrs. Sarah E. Nelson, Craig, Nebraska;
Mrs. Dorah Lynn, St. Marys, Kansas;

Her surviving brothers and sisters are:

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and at the burial of our beloved mother, Mrs. J. S. Smith. Especially are we grateful to Prof. Langman and the teachers, and the
(text unreadable)...... of the World, who provided the handsome floral tributes.
HER CHILDREN.
Taken from unknown newspaper printed Friday, January 18, 1912, pg. 1.
Notes on her name: The many variances of names taken from documents where she had signed her name, where someone recorded her name and from her obituary. Also, in my possession, her name written in cursive as known by her living relative.
