Harriet An Glass/Whirl was born in Pennsylvania to Thomas Glass and Margaret McMillen. She married William Henry Whirl on 14 May 1846.

Obituary

Harriet A. Whirl, wife of Wm. H. Whirl was born in Washington Co., Pa Oct 11th, 1824. In 1831 her parents moved to Ohio and settled in Columbiana Co., where she grew into womanhood. In 1846 she was united in marriage to Wm. H. Whirl, with whom she lived happily for 45 years.

For nearly half a century she has been a resident of Allen Co. She was converted to God at the age of 22, and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Through all her subsequent life she remained in the church's communion a faithful member. She died June 5th, 1891 aged 66 years 7 months and 24 days. The funeral services conducted by her pastor, the Rev. D Carter of Spencerville, were held on Sunday, June 7th at Allentown, were her remains were interred.

Mrs. Whirl was a woman of devout and earnest religious spirit, quiet in her habit of life, devoted to her family, faithful in the service of God, highly esteemed among her neighbors and respected by all. She fulfilled in a prominent degree the description of a model wife and faithful mother found in Proverbs 31, 10 30. All who have known her as well as husband and children, praise her and arise to call her blessed. (Obit extracted from Historical Newspapers)
