Balsam News, The death of Mrs ML Smathers which occurred February 4th was not unexpected as it had been known for some time that she could not recover. She was a good woman a member of the Baptist church. The funeral was conducted by Rev Frank Arrington and the body was laid to rest in the G.C. Crawford graveyard. She leaves a husband and one son, Ed, and four daughters, Mrs Luther Arrington, Mrs Dan Arrington, Mrs A.C. Crawford and Mrs Robert Crawford. We extend our sympathies to the bereaved family.
