Patriot, Harrisburg, PA, August 24, 1910:
WELL KNOWN FARMER DEAD
JOHN W SHELLEY SUCCUMBS TO NEURALGIA OF THE HEART.
Carlisle, Aug. 23 -- After being ill but a few hours, John W Shelley [sic], one of the most prominent farmers in this section of the country, died at his home at Hatton, near Boiling Springs, at about 11 o'clock on Sunday night, of neuralgia of the heart.
Mr. Shelley on Saturday came to his home from attending the Dillsburg camp meeting, feeling ill. On Sunday he was slightly ill, but not until late Sunday evening did his condition become serious. The deceased was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren church of Boiling Springs, and for several years superintendent of its Sunday school. He was fifty-seven years of age.
His wife and the following children survive: Mrs Harry Bricker, of Boiling Springs; Mrs Harriet Freeby of Carlisle; and Misses Mary and Emily, at home.
Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. with services at the house and interment in the Mt. Zion cemetery near Churchtown.
