Blackey News
It is with a sad heart and lonesome mind that I will try to write a short obituary of John B. Back, who has just passed on to the great beyond. He was born Dec. 5, 1868, and died Aug. 18, 1949. He was married to Betty Jane Cornett and to this union was born 12 children. Three children preceded him in death and there are nine still living to mourn his loss. These are Mrs. Della Eldridge, Mr. James Back, Henry Back, Sam Back, Mrs. Carmie Dixon, Joe Back, Mrs. Florence Campbell, Ben Back, Troy Back, Little Back, and Dixie Back. When Betty Jane had passed on to her home beyond this world, he then married Polly Anne Holcomb, and to this union were born 2 children, Opal and Mary, who are still living. He was a man I knew for over 50 years. No one except his own family knew him any better than I did. He was always kind and good to those that he came in contact with, a good neighbor. He bore his sickness with great patience for the short time he lay sick and said in his last days that he was ready to go, although he never joined the church we have hope that he is at rest in the home prepared for the blessed.

Uncle John Back was buried in the Dixon Cemetery beside his first wife, and Elders G. M. Caudill, Jesse Cornett, and Wm. B. Whitaker officiated at the funeral.
