Youngest of three daughters born to Fredrech & Alice Beckman, graduated from Olympia High School in 1953. Attended Central Washington College, graduating with a B.A. in Business with a minor in Education. She received her M.A. in Education in 1979 and a Superindents Credential from WSU in 1982. Taught elementary school in Olympia and Pullman and high school in Tumwater. Served as Vice Principal of Tumwater High School, then Principal of Michael T. Simmons and Peter G. Schmidt elementary schools. She retired in 1990.

Married Edward LeRoy Ashburn in June of 1956. He died in 1982.

Married Bill Kennedy in 1985. Traveled overseas where Bill did consulting work, visiting six continents and 22 countries. Returned to Washington after the consulting work was finished, and enjoyed traveling the United States.

She enjoyed her home, gardening, playing bridge, dancing, and entertaining friends and family, boating, touring in the old sports cars and traveling. She was a gracious, generous, kind and loving person who has left a mark in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
