James S. Woods was born October 1st, 1864, in McDonough county and died December 19th, 1932, ear Hersman, Illinois, in Brown coutny. At 68 years, 2 months and 18 days of age.

His parents, Joseph Woods and Arlena Kirck Woods, have preceded him in death.

He was married to Miss Anna B. Hammel, September 30th, 1886. To this union were born seven children, three of whom have preceded himm in death, Wava and Gladys dying in infancy, and Cliff, September 12, 1926. His children who survive him are: Clarence Russell of Winfield, Kansas; Hazel Ferne Wagner, of Hersman, Illinois; Avis Irene Dalton, of Timewell, Ilinois; and Herbert Emerson, who lives at home.

Seven grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters are left to mourn his death. The brothers and sisters who survive him are: Mrs. Martha Timasheske of Augusta; Mrs. Amanda Cain, of Kalispell, Montana; Mrs. Emma Wood, of Galesburg; Mrs. Jennie Knott, of Plymouth; W. M. Woods, of Augusta; Melvin Woods, of Augusta; and LEona Bell Woods, of Jacksonville.

In early manhood he was united with the West Union Baptist church. During his entire life he has remained faithful to his Savior.

Mr. Woods was an affectionate husband and father and a good neighbor. His family and friends will greatly miss his loving kindness and thoughtfulness.

Funeral serviuces were held Wednesday, December 21st. His body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Versailles.
