This past March I received a direct confirmation from Pete Reyerse, Operations Manager for the Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum, that Fred is buried in this cemetery and lies in an unmarked grave.
While doing research about my great grand uncle Fred, I discovered that he served in the Spanish American War. He was mustered into service with Company C, 31st Michigan Infantry in Tecumseh, Michigan on April 26, 1898, and mustered out in Savannah, Georgia on May 17, 1899. He appears to have been credited with Cuban service. This should make him eligible to receive a government headstone from the Veterans Administration.
