MITCHELL, Mahlon Gray OBITUARY: The Giles Free Press, 29 Dec 1984
Mahlon Gray Mitchell of Nashville, 68, died on Wednesday, December 12, 1984, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Mahlon C. Mitchell of Nashville, formerly of Prospect. In 1977 he retired after 39 years of services with Genesco, where he was a production coordinator. After retirement he farmed timber on his land at Dog Branch. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II, and was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. He was a former board member of the East Nashville YMCA, a former member of the Blue Grass Country Club, and a former vice president of the Nashville Squares square dance club.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 14, at Phillip Robinson Chapel in Nashville, John Tullock and P. Duane Sheumaker officiating, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, Carr and Erwin Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Gertrude H. Mitchell, Nashville; his wife, Louise H. Mitchell, Nashville; a son, Mahlon Wade Mitchell, Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Deborah Gray Mitchell, Miami, Florida, and Mary Anne Ross, Nashville; four sisters, Elizabeth Edmundson of Prospect, Dorothy Price of Los Angeles, Calif., Nell Paris and Betty Jean Birdsong of Nashville; and one grandchild.
