"OBITUARY"

ROOP, Mr. Raymond M. 408 Street. Passed away Saturday morning. Mr. Roop was born November, 25, 1893 in Milford, Indiana, the son of John and Cora Roop. He had been a resident of this community for about 8 months; prior to that had lived in Plainwell for six years. Before his retirement, he was the owner of the Gun Plain Machinery and Equipment Company and had been with International Harvester for 26 years. He was the Secretary of the Plainwell Rotary Club, a veteran of World War I and a member of the Walter Miller American Legion Post No. 25, the Methodist Church of Plainwell, the Koscuisko Masonic Lodge No 418 F & AM of Milford, Indiana, the Kalamazoo Elks Lodge No. 50, BPOE and was a graduate of Purdue University.

Surviving are his wife Mary S. Roop; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Bennett and Mrs. Barbara Sugars, both of Kalamazoo; two sons, Donald Smith of Kalamazoo; and Capt. Charles Smith of Ft. Braggs, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Truesdale Chapel, where services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Ray Gillham officiating. Interment, Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends who wish to do so may make contribution through the Plainwell Rotary to the Crippled Children's Fund.
{Note: Ray's wife was first married to a Smith and the two sons mentioned are stepsons although he may have adopted them.
