Laurance Everett Jordan

CALDWELL — Laurance Everett Jordan, 57, of Caldwell, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, April 14, 1989, in a Boise hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the First Assembly of God Church, "The Domes," Caldwell. The Rev. Gerald E. Crownover of the church will officiate, assisted by Laurance's brothers, the Rev. Duane Jordan and the Rev. Lyle Jordan. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Arrangements are under direction of the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.

Mr. Jordan, a painting contractor, was born Nov. 16, 1931, at Caldwell, a son of Floyd E. and Laura Hall Jordan. He attended schools in Idaho, Oklahoma and Oregon. He had to face the responsibility of helping raise a large family at the early age of 17 when his father died. He started his painting career in Oklahoma. He served as a lineman in the Korean War. Mr. Jordan worked for O.E. Dutch Mills Painting for 23 years. He married Shirley Ann Jerome on Jan. 16, 1954, at Caldwell, where they had since resided. They raised six children.

Mr. Jordan started a partnership, Jordan Painting, in 1976 with his sons, Floyd and Steve, which he was working in at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Caldwell First Assembly of God Church where he served as a board member for 28 years, and was an adult Sunday school teacher. He helped build "The Domes."

Laurance was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was a kind man who would always drop what he was doing to lend a hand to those in need. A lot of us don't know how we'll keep our houses and cars running without him. His greatest love was for his Heavenly Father. His desire was that his life would reflect Christ, and others would be influenced by his example. He always had time for everyone. He instilled his great love for God in his children, and we are grateful to him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. On the day Laurance was born, he cried and others rejoiced; on the day he died, he rejoiced to be with his Heavenly Father, and those of us he left cried. Life on this Earth is short compared to eternity. We'll miss you, Laurance. Save us a place and we'll see you in a little while. We love you.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Caldwell; three sons and their wives, Floyd and Cindy Jordan of Nampa, Steve and Shirley Jordan of Caldwell, and Tim and Vaun Jordan of Caldwell; two daughters and their husbands Judy and Leroy Gillatt of Nam and Pauli and Russ Massey Caldwell; a daughter, Vickie Jordan of Caldwell; his mother and stepfather, Laura and Bill Burle; two brothers, Duane Jordan Prineville, Ore., and Lyle Jordan, Roseburg, Ore.; eight sisters, Vera Easteppe of Nampa, Theda Nix, Puyallup, Wash., Clara Brooks, Mount Vernon, Wash., Norma Downen of Caldwell, Lewanna Soeby of Tacoma, Wash., Pearl Rosedahl of Scotia, Calif., Carma Burley of Homedale and Patricia Kanno of Redmond, Wash.; eight grandchildren, and expecting two in May; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Jordan, and granddaughter, Susan.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God, "The Domes" 821 N. 16th, Caldwell 83605.

Friends may call today from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
