Military Service Bet. 1861–1862 - Company I, 7th Iowa Infantry, 25 July 1861/ discharged or wounded 24 Feb 1862 at St. Louis Missouri, He is not listed in the index of Monroe County veterans, but is in record book 1, page 122, which says he died of a diabetic condition, and is the son of John and Sarah Chidester
