He was born in the Golden Rule district, the son of Thomas and Sarah McCluer Duncan. He was married to Miss Lydia Wisdom on July 18, 1895, at Eureka Springs, Ark.
To them were born six children, Mrs. Anna Correll of Oswego, Ks., Arthur Duncan of Baxter Springs, Ks., Mrs. Emily Fast of Columbus, Ks., Mrs. Ethel Baird of Lawton, Ks., Rev. John Duncan of Garland, Ks., and Walter Duncan of the home. All the children with their mother , survive, together with twenty grandchildren, one great granddaughter, JoAnn Joy Mcdowell of Auburn, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Sizemore and Mrs. Mollie Rogers of rural Columbus, and Mrs. Dora Divens of Burns, Oreg., other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Duncan had been in ill health for the past two years, but was bedfast only four weeks. He was converted and united with the Baptist church in Mineral Springs, MO., at the age of 27 years. The family moved to Columbus last December 20th.
