W. Dent Peeples Final Rites Held
Heart Attack Fatal to Valdosta Banker
Valdosta, Ga., May 23. – Rites were held here today for W. Dent Peeples, 44, Valdosta businessman and banker, who died at his home here yesterday after a heart attack. The Rev. Cecil Thompson officiated, assisted by the Rev. T. Barron Gibson. Mr. Peeples, member of a prominent Georgia family, served several terms as mayor of Valdosta. A native of this city, he had lived all his life here except three years while he was president of the Boston (Ga.) Banking Company. He was owner of the Georgia Truck Implement Co., of Quitman. He was a member of the Valdosta Presbyterian church. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Pope Hagerty; one daughter, Miss Leonora Peeples; his mother; two sisters, Mrs. Alex W. Bealer, of Atlanta, and Mrs. Charles A. Kistler, of Memphis; one brother, C. O. Peeples, of Valdosta, and two uncles.
