Funeral services of Mrs. Mrs. Mabel Burney Beckham, 81, of Columbia, will be held at 11 o'clock today at New Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael L. Townsend and the Rev. Harry Bauknight. Interment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Monday evening, March 14, 2005, at Shives Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beckham died Saturday, March 12, 2005. Born in Dillon, S. C., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Vada Burney. She was a longtime member of New Heights Baptist Church, formerly Colonial Heights Baptist Church and the Frances Roberts Bible Study Group. Mrs. Beckham was an Honorary Assistant Basketball Coach for Frank McGuire.

Survivors include; sons, Randy Beckham and wife Rose of Atlanta, Ga., Lee Beckham and wife Linda of Gastonia, N. C., daughters, Lynn Abee and husband, Mike of Columbia, Maude Fowler of Gastonia, N. C. and Loreen Huggins of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Brent Beckham and wife Heather, Brad Beckham and wife Laurel and Lori Mack; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Avery Beckham. Mrs. Beckham was preceded in death by her husband Dick Beckham, three brothers and a sister.
