Mark Fielding Gish was the son of Helen and David Gish and grew up in Frederick Oklahoma. He was the great nephew of Lillian Gish.
After graduating high school, he enrolled at Oklahoma City University (OCU). He also attended several other Universities in California, and Chickasha Oklahoma, at one point.
Mark was deeply connected to metaphysics, he was a numerologist, and attained a degree of astrology from the University of Puerto Rico.
As a teenager, he traveled the world, not once, but several times. Later, as an adult, he lived in Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Palm Springs, and Tucson.
Mark was very creative and everyone loved his easy-going laid-back personality. He loved to sing and dance. He was a writer; having published one book, and was an actor too, who enjoyed many theatrical venues to include Summer Stock. At Hollywood, Mark found employ as the Wardrobe Manager at CBS Studios.
Mark loved the desert and disliked cold climes, at the end of his life he resided at Tucson Arizona. Here, he found an area that nurtured his soul, with its stately Saguaro and stunning landscapes.

Mark's friends were the most important element of his life, he valued them and would do anything for them. It has always amazed me at the amount of people who adored him.

GISH Mark Fielding, was born December 7, 1949, in Frederick, OK., the son of David W. and Helen F. Hammonds Gish, passed away Thursday night, November 11, 1993, in Tuscon, Arizona, after a lengthy illness. He attended the Frederick Schools, and graduated from Frederick High School, in 1968.
In high school, Mark wrote and acted in two plays, "My Pal Venus" and "A Night At Terror House". He was a member of the All State Chorus for three years. A talented vocal student, he was selected from a group of two-thousand applicants nationwide, to participate in the 1968 European Study Program of the All Student Chorus and Jazz Group, sponsored by the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia. Seventy-five members were in the group, and they performed in twelve European Countries.
Mark attended Oklahoma City University, Altus Junior College, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Oklahoma University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, OK in 1973. He moved to Hollywood, California in 1978, where he was employed by C.B.S./Fox Studios as Administrative Assistant in the Art and Property Department. He received a Master's degree in Astrological Science, and appeared in a number of plays in Oklahoma, Arizona and California.
In 1983, Mark wrote a mystery novel, 'Pretty Things', which was published and adopted for the stage in Palm Beach, California.
The University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma, presented Mark in 1984 with the Outstanding Alumni Award for Professional Achievement Since Graduation. In 1992, after his health failed, he moved to Tucson, Arizona.
Mark was known and loved for his warm and loving nature, and his dedication to his family. He was always willing to help a friend.
The dedication through the years of his dear friend, Harvey Williams, gave him strength during the last years of his illness.
