Breaux Bridge – A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, November 30, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Emma Violet Barnette Trant, 90, who passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday and continue at 8:00 am until 12:45 pm on Friday.

Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Mrs. Trant was retired from the medical profession, where she worked as a nurse. She was a caretaker to anyone in need of her assistance. In her free time she enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Sue) Trant of Robert Lee, TX; four grandchildren, Tony (Darlene Fournet) McNew, Donna (Mark) Barta, Terry (Karla) Duke, and Patricia Kay Trant; eight great grandchildren, Kyle McNew, T.J. McNew, Marcus Bergeron, Misty Duke, Alana Duke, Miles Duke, Brandon Barta, and Lauren Barta; and three great-great grandchildren, Shylo, Austin, and Rylan McNew.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Calvin Trant; her daughter, Jean Duke; her parents, Early R. and Belle Slay Barnette; a brother, Early J. Barnette and wife, Jean; and four sisters, Gertie Thompson, Clara Foshee, Lona Trant, and Isa Trant.
