John W. (Winnie) Allen, 813 State St., DeKalb, died May 25, 1972 in the DeKalb Public Hospital.

Mr. Allen was born Feb. 1, 1897 in Compton, Lee County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarnedon Allen. He was married Jan. 1, 1920 to Edna A. Kreiger in Ottawa.

Mr. Allen was a former employee of the American Steele and Wire Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, DeKalb; the Loyal Order of Moose; and a former third ward alderman.

His widow survives; also three sons, Burdette, Carpentersville; Burdelle in California; and Roger, Sycamore; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Faith) Davy, DeKalb; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne, Aurora and Ellis of Elburn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

The funeral is at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 at the Ronan-Moore Mortuary with the Rev. Daniel Facemyer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary.
